Reclycling > City of Tucson Winterhaven Recycling & Development City of Tucson Environmental Services, Daniel Sainz, 791-4155 Curbside Recycling Dates: The normal day for recycling pick up in Winterhaven is Monday. Recycle These Items: Newspapers, brown paper bags, motor oil, magazines, glossy catalogs, glass bottles, jars, corrugated cardboard, #1 PETE plastic bottles, #2 plastic bottles/jugs, # 6 polystrene "Styrofoam" food containers, alunminum cans, aluminum foil, tin/steel cans, and aerosol cans. It's Easy to Recycle: By 6:30 a.m. on your collection day, set your full bin on the curb at least four feet from your garbage can and mailbox. Put newspapers and any extra recylables in paper bags or cardboard boxes next to your bin. We Cannot Recycle: - Foam packing
peanuts or blocks Recycling Tips: - Post the list of acceptable recyclables: To remind you want to recycle. - Plastic Containers:
Check the bottom to make sure it has a number 1, 2, or 6. Numbers
1 and 2 must be bottles or jugs - no tubs ( like margarine
or yogurt). Flatten plastic bottles and jugs. - Motor Oil: Put used motor oil in a gallon milk or water jug with a screw- on lid and set it beside your recycling bin. The jug will be emptied and left for your reuse. - No Plastic Bags: Plastic bags cannot be recycled in the curbside program, and they can create a litter problem. Do not put your extra recyclables in plastic bags - use paper bags instead. Holiday Information: When your recycling collection day falls on-or the weekdays after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day or July 4th, your collection will move the following day. For example, Thanksgiving is on Thursday, so Thursday's collection will be on Friday, and Friday's collection will be on Saturday.
